Amy Briggs

pianist, teacher, and musical mystic

Welcome! I’m glad you are here. I have been playing the piano and thinking about music since before I can remember, and I’ve made performing and teaching music my life’s work. After more than three decades as a concert pianist and teacher, I am still passionate about what I do. It’s a joy and a privilege to help others develop a love and appreciation for music, one that I hope will last them a lifetime. Read on to learn a little more about me, or click below to learn more about my offerings as a teacher.

Featured on Colorado Public Radio

I was recently featured on a new episode of the Centennial Sounds podcast. Colorado Public Radio’s Brad Turner and I explore the unique and challenging piano etudes of composer David Rakowski…he's written 100 of them. I have recorded 92 of the 100 for Bridge Records; click here to experience some etudes on my video page. I dropped into the CPR Performance Studio to freshly record five of my favorite Rakowski etudes for this podcast. The episode is on Apple Podcasts and most other podcasting platforms. In Person and Online!

I am happy to offer lessons in person in my Nederland, CO studio as well as online. While I will continue to monitor CDC guidelines and follow safety protocols, I welcome students who have either been vaccinated (adults and teens) or children living in households where adults have been vaccinated. In addition, I am continuing to offer online lessons for those who find it more convenient as well as for days that weather or transportation issues make it difficult to get to me in person.
