...and I'm back!
From June 2012 to June 2013 I took a self-described 'sabbatical in the woods', and returned to New Hampshire, land of my childhood, for a year of quiet reflection, contemplation, and important family time. There was even some practice on a piano-shaped-object. I returned to Chicago in July 2013 refreshed, recharged, and with new insights on life and music. Stay tuned for a forthcoming blog entry on that subject. In the meantime, I have a lot of practicing to do, with a busy and exciting season ahead (and lots of notes to learn!). I am happy to be back. Life is good.
World Premiere and recording of the new Davy concerto with BMOP in January!
The renowned Davy Rakowski, composer of 100 "Davytudes" and much, much more, finished his ginormous Piano Concerto No. 2, written for me, in 2011. I will be playing the world premiere and recording it with the world-renowned Boston Modern Orchestra Project in January at the New England Conservatory's beautiful Jordan Hall. See the schedule for more details. It's going to be HOT! Don't miss it, if you are in or near Boston.
