Have you ever wished you could sit down at the piano and play tunes by ear?
Or write your own melodies and harmonize them in fun and creative ways?
You can. I’m going to show you how.
I am pleased to announce a new 8-week course called Harmonize Like A Pro: Level 1. With a basic understanding of how keyboard chords work, you can learn to harmonize melodies at the piano with ease. If you play some piano already (whether beginner, intermediate or advanced) and you want to improve your ability to play popular styles by ear, this course will teach you to harmonize with confidence. Here’s a smattering of the topics included in this 8-week course:
Chord types (major, minor, seventh chords)
The difference between root position chords and inversions…and how/when to use each
The primary chords in any key and how to use other chords to spice things up
How to recognize common chord progressions and use them in your own tunes
The dominance of dominant 7th chords
Creative ways to voice (or organize) chords between right and left hands
Listening and analysis of classic pop music examples
How to harmonize any tune (including ones you make up!)
How a good bass line make everything more interesting
This 90-minute Zoom class will meet on selected Tuesday evenings between August 27th to October 22nd.
Each class will be recorded, and the video replay link will be sent to participants within 48 hours of class.

Pdfs covering each week’s material will be emailed at the beginning of the week prior to class.
Participants are encouraged to ask questions and share examples of their own harmonization with the class…however, sharing is not required.
